Who would have guessed that the internet AKA the web actually has all these spiders crawling through it. A web spider is a program or automated script which browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner.
Google the leading search engine uses spiders as a means of providing up-to-date data. The spiders are mainly used to create a copy of all the visited pages for later processing by Google that will index the downloaded pages to provide fast searches.
